Effective use of email in recruitment

Creating an effective email campign is no easy task.  Following the simple steps outlined below will give you a great head start on your competition.

Subject line

This is the first thing the user reads, so make it count.

Good subject lines are the biggest reason for high open rates and it is worth spending the time to get this right.  Do not rush this at the last minute.

Subject lines should reflect the content of the email – keep it simple and to the point.  Steer clear from words such as ‘free’ unless you want to go into the the spam folder of doom.

Call to action

So your subject line is good and the email has been opened, now what?

Make the journey easy for the user by guiding them to where you want them.  If it’s an event, give the user the key details and use a nice big button so it's clear how to sign up.

If your information is all over the place then the delete button becomes a lot more tempting.

Landing page

Great, the email has been opened and clicked.  The hard work has been done and you can pat yourself on the back

Not so quickly, the journey's not over yet.

A rushed and poorly put together landing page can kill the whole user journey.  This area needs just as much focus as the email itself.  Remember, by the time the user reaches this the landing page they are a white-hot prospect.  Make the final step nice and simple.
