A lot of people are under the illusion that once your recruitment website is up and running you can leave it for a year or two and then review it for an upgrade. But the companies that have the most successful sites understand that we should be continually enhancing our recruitment websites to cater for our users and our objectives.
Follow the simple steps below to increase your website conversion rates.
Step 1
Define your objective(s). I.e. increase candidate registrations, job applications etc.
Step 2
Create a baseline of stats, this way you will know if your enhancements have improved your conversion rates. An excellent tool for this is google analytics, where you can set up goals and funnels.
Step 3
There is rarely a silver bullet that will dramatically increase your conversions; it is usually a combination of enhancements. So you need to review the website and highlight all the areas you think can improve the conversions. For instance if you have a recruitment website and want to increase registrations, maybe you need a new button on certain pages, or simply move it higher up the page. In some cases it can be a colour change in a button that could increase your conversion rates. I have known clients to increase their conversion rates just by changing a button from blue to green.
Step 4
Analyse the results. There are tools that can track actual clicks of a user so you can see within 24 hours if the changes have increased your conversion rates.
To summarise
1. Create your baseline stats
2. Highlight areas you think can improve
3. Implement the changes
4. Analyse the data
