Happy 40th Birthday, Internet!

happy birthdayYes, 40 years old and powering the world! Not a bad achievement at such a young age, all I'm sure you'll agree!

But the internet has certainly changed since 1969, and the Telegraph has charted 20 milestones in it's development to prove this. Changes are constantly being made when it comes to the internet, in fact it was only Monday when the BBC reported that more changes are afoot with the development of internationalised domain names. Personally, I applaud this development - in a time where the English language is coming to the point of global domination, it's nice to see the non-Roman languages getting their say.

So raise your glass, have a slice of cake and read what the BBC has to say about celebrating 40 years of the net.

...and very few seems to have changed. A search query for "charley kline" in google.com (the first tester) returns a page for the 35th anniversary of the internet, indicating that information doesn't "travel" as fast as we'd expect. Maybe in 5 years from now THIS comment will rank first! ;-)
