Accessability Links

It was only a matter of time...

...for twitter to be attacked by apps and games.

(You'll note that I kindly saved the dignity of the person who sent us the Mafia family request.)

Out of curiosity I clicked on the link and saw the below rubbish.

The fact that I even got this email led me to ponder: Did the brainwaves behind twitter not research the backlash that Facebook received during the App Overload war?

The more important issue here is about account security. The Guardian picked up on this and there has been a bit of e-outrage regarding twitter's association with an untrusted application that can result in spam from illegally accessing users accounts. And all this in the wake of the gmail/hotmail/yahoo email hacking disaster this month!

Facebook apps and Twitter apps are actually hugely popular. I personally despise them, but that is for another day. These apps and games and other such nonsense make money every time someone opens them up through advertising. Currently on Facebook the app Farmville (you've all got friends who will be constantly updating you with how their cabbages and little lambs are getting on) has more active users than the whole of Twitter. Sounds ridiculous? It is. But at the same time its a stroke of genius!!! These guys are making top dollar.
