The Top 10 Internet Moments of the Decade

The birth of Wikipedia, the death of Napster, the entry of Google's stock and the revolution in online video with YouTube are on the list of the ten most important developments on the Internet from 2000 to date according to Awards Webby.

The Top 10 compiled by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, based in New York, which awards annual prizes of excellence on the Internet for various categories such as online news, interactive advertising and design websites.

This time, the Academy issued a list of the best moments of the internet for ten years:

  1. The website ads Craiglist, now well known in the U.S., extends beyond San Francisco (2000)
  2. The launch of the online advertising platform for Google AdWords
  3. The Wikipedia makes its debut (2001)
  4. The closure of the file-sharing service Napster (2001)
  5. The public offering of Google (2004)
  6. The Revolution of Internet video started with Napster
  7. Facebook opens to students outside the college; Twitter emerges (2006)
  8. Apple launches the iPhone
  9. The use of the Internet in the U.S. presidential campaign (2008)
  10. The use of Twitter during the demonstrations in Iran after the elections

For the Year awards, the communication from the Academy is expected in April 2010.
