Would you offer a Lite version of your site?

Facebook recently launched a "slimmed-down" version of their website to help those with slow internet connections.

Since they went live, the amount of extra applications and images that you can have on your profile have multiplied profusely.

The result of this app-revolution is that everyone (myself included) find their pages to be incredibly cluttered, largely irrelevant, and slow to load. So it's welcome news that Facebook are doing the Lite version (only available in India and the US at the moment).

My question to you, loyal Blog readers, is whether you think something like this is a good idea for your Recruitment web site. A lot of our clients enjoy image-heavy sites, but what effect does this have on candidates and clients alike if they have a slow internet connection and have to wait forever for the screen to load? Are you potentially losing business because people cannot be bothered to wait for the page to load?

So, would you offer a Lite version of your site to people with slow internet connection? What are your thoughts on this?

Good blog Nadia, I think the mobile and PDA market would find this especially useful as modern websites can be very bandwidth hungry which makes them frustrating to use on a mobile device.
