YouTube exceeds one billion views a day!

YouTube logo The number of video views a day on YouTube has exceeded the one billion mark, according YouTube's co-founder Chad Hurley, on the third anniversary of its acquisition by Google.

This currently makes YouTube the 2nd largest search engine in the world which certainly gives Google a monopoly in the search (and acquisition) world!

This information follows negotiations by YouTube to secure longer, full-length content. For example, as announced last week, US viewers of YouTube's Crackle channel will be able to view the full length version of Martin Scorsese's film, Taxi Driver.

Hopefully by their 4th birthday next year, the UK site will be able to access feature films.

Stay tuned - will YouTube make the cinema redundant?

It would be hilarious if sites like YouTube resulted in the cinema becoming redundant. Absolutely hilarious.
