Law Society's Gazette

Situation:

The Law Society's Gazette is circulated to all practising solicitors in England and Wales and as such reaches more legal professionals than any other weekly magazine. It has been published for over 100 years.

The Law Society's Gazette is also the premier source and market leader for legal recruitment and other advertising aimed at the legal profession, from and legal HR, legal IT, legal secretaries and many more.

The publication was considering moving from a print magazine to an online magazine.

Our approach:

We needed to understand the balance between the publication’s editorial and advertising needs, and to ensure that the 115,000 subscribers would migrate with the magazine as it changed medium for the first time in 100 years.

In addition, we needed to make it easy for candidates to find and search for jobs on the website and for the client to update and keep the vast database of jobs fresh and current.

The outcome:

Since going live in May 2007, the site has been a huge success with both the client and the growing body of subscribers to the service.  Over 5000 visitors a month now visit the site and candidates are able to apply for roles from legal secretaries to district judges across the globe.

Barclay Simpson

Situation:

Barclay Simpson is the leading company in corporate governance recruitment in the UK, having specialised in corporate governance since 1989.

The company’s web presence did not reflect its market leading position and its candidate attraction levels were lower than it would have liked.

The company asked 4MAT to improve its ratings with the major search engines and drive more candidate traffic to the site.

Our Approach:

We needed to understand how candidates looking for specific roles within the specialised niche of corporate governance used the web to find specific jobs.

We worked with Ian Coyle, Managing Director, to understand the marketplace, their clients and their candidate base to get a full understanding of all the stakeholders in the relationship.

The Outcome:

Armed with a body of knowledge, we were able to design, build and maintain a web solution which not only appears consistently at the top of Google’s search results, but which is now the company’s largest source of candidate referral and revenue.

Protemp

Situation:

Protemp specialises in Permanent and temporary driving jobs. The company is part of the Right4Staff Group, which has a network of over 70 offices throughout the UK, and is one of the fastest growing recruitment businesses in the country.

4MAT’s challenge was to radically overhaul an outdated website from design and user experience to search engine results and profitability.

Our Approach:

The niche occupied by Protemp means that it is difficult to get them to the top of the Google tree.  But because we understand how Google works, when it updates its search criteria and how to keep up with the requirements of ethical SEO, we were able to place Protemp in the top 5 of Google’s returned results.

The Outcome:

So now, when candidates look for “driving jobs”, Protemp is one of the first agencies which appears.  This is a remarkable achievement considering the tough competition that exists for organic search terms of this kind.  This has led to a 10 fold increase in visitor numbers to the site within the first 6 months.
